Born in St. Petersburg five years apart, Nikolai Ushin (1898–1942) and Aleksei Ushin (1903–1942) were brothers and artists, who sometimes worked together. What little biographical information is known about each is summarized in this joint artist’s page. The brothers’ lives were tragically cut short when each died of starvation in besieged Leningrad: Nikolai on April 6, 1942, at the age of 44 and Aleksei on May 20, 1942 at the age of 39.
