Today we feature several works from the collection included in the new exhibition, Underground Modernist: E. McKnight Kauffer at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York (September 10, 2021–April 10, 2022). Organized by Associate Curator Caitlin Condell and Assistant Curator Emily M. Orr, with Curatorial Assistants Caroline O’Connell and Kristina Parsons, this exhibition represents the largest-ever retrospective of the renowned graphic designer E. McKnight Kauffer (American, 1890–1954). It is accompanied by the major catalogue, E. McKnight Kauffer: The Artist in Advertising.
